El Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Mission district, SF














































































This is a Mexican traditional holiday in which the living celebrate the lives of those who have passed on...It is not meant to be a scary holiday, but one that is celebratory...Men, women and children are dressed as skeletons to remind us of our mortality...Altars are made to remember our loved ones...some people display photos, while others write notes, candles and flowers are displayed and rhythmic music is created by performance artists or individuals...There was a large display with a white flower "apple" sculpture for Steve Jobs...I wrote a note to my dad...the photo is not here yet, its on my iPhone...it says, "Farquar, we will always miss you -love Tina." I guess some of the "ghosted" images are appropriate...
